Powers

• Psychokinetic Force Fields: As a highly specialized form of telekinesis, Carnelian can project a number of force fields in his immediate vicinity. They can vary in opacity, but always glow a reddish-orange color. The fields are technically two dimensional, having zero thickness, they exist as an application of psychokinetic force as a surface of a plane or shape. He can project the fields into any shape he is capable of visualizing, up to a maximum size of about 50 cubic feet.. He can maintain multiple fields simultaneously, but as the complexity of the number of shapes and positions rises, so too does the mental strain. (See Flaws) Once placed, the fields normally can not be moved by any outside force, only shattered: however he can move the fields at will, with a raw level of control that allows only simple movements without fine maneuvering, but they can move at bullet speed if he wishes. If the field is not at least partially in his line of sight it shatters. However, fields can be rendered stable, at which point they are objects that can be manipulated by anyone holding one. The edge of a field can be made either blunt or sharp: when sharp, given they are zero width, they can cut at the molecular level and can cut through almost anything with ease (not adamantium or vibranium). The strength of the fields is sufficient to withstand blows from beings who can lift up to 25 tons as long as maintained, but above that they will shatter.
• Psychokinetic Armor: This special application of his force fields allows Carnelian to manifest multiple fields around his body in the shape of armor: this is a complex form with multiple intersecting planes of stable fields that are anchored onto his body. Despite this complexity, this use of his power requires almost no strain due to extensive practice. This armor is stable, and attached to him, so while it can withstand the full force of a regular field, and it absorbs much of the impact, physics does apply and he's likely to get sent flying if hit by someone with superstrength.
• Psychokinetic Flight: By moving either his armor, or a platform he projects, he can cause himself and others with him to fly up to 60mph. Although he can move the fields much faster, any faster then that and breathing becomes the obstacle. This is particularly tiring and can only be done for a few hours before rest is required.

Skills

• Kendo: Chance has achieved the fourth dan of kendo, which while not a master, is well on his way towards that status. In his dojo in Los Angeles where he lived, he participated in a number of competitions and won most. With a sword (psychokinetic or not), he more then holds his own.
• Judo: He's by no means an expert, but he has a solid level of training in the grappling based soft-combat of Judo.
• Mechanics: He knows cars, and engines, and mechanics in general. He didn't graduate high school, isn't the brightest guy around, but he works in an auto shop and makes a decent living doing it.
• Streetwise: He knows his way around, knows how to talk to people— especially minorities— and knows how to be just another brown person in the crowd. Granted, he can't do anything about being brown.
• Athletics: Chance is good at sports. All sports. Running. Baseball. Everything. If its physical, he's good at it.
• Multi-lingual: He speaks fluent English, Zapotec, Spanish and Japanese.

Advantages

• Contacts: Chance has deep contacts on the streets; the poor, the minorities, the disaffected (including, mutants), and a little strangely, even some cops. Not all cops are bad, and the Community knows those that aren't, and Chance has made a point to befriend them. Then there's civil rights leaders (especially in the Chicano movement, but in other minority communities as well) and community leaders (especially Catholic leaders)
• Motorcycle: His baby, Sofia, a Honda CB77. He saved and saved and bought this fast beauty and keeps her in tip-top shape.

Flaws

• Bigotry Sucks: He's a chicano, he has a japanese step-father he adores (who totally spent time in a detention center), he likes the D. People suck in the 1960's.
• Reckless: He doesn't have a proper sense of self-preservation. Granted, his powers shield him from a lot, but not everything. Especially not surprise or mistakes. He doesn't think about that, though. He jumps into dangerous situations without any concern.
• Arrogant: He thinks he's better then the average joe, deep inside. He doesn't say it, but he feels it. It colors how he relates to people, especially normal people, especially normal white people.
• Vengeful: Loyalty is important to him. Betray that, and he doesn't forget, he doesn't forgive. This can lead him down really bad paths of decision making.
• Psychokinetics: His powers are a function of his mind, a special application of something more like telekinesis then anything else, and they are maintained entirely by his own mind. If he loses concentration, his fields shatter. If he loses consciousness, he's defenseless. More importantly, he is subject to mental strain. The more fields he manifests, the more complicated the configuration, the greater the strain. This begins as tension, and leads to headaches, then come the nose bleeds, and its possible for him to have a stroke due to trying to maintain his power against an onslaught. He could die.
