• Energy Absorption: Shaw's mutant gene allows him to passively absorb a finite amount of energy and convert it to other uses. He stores kinetic energy most effectively, but any kind will do. The basic effect of stored energy reserves give him incredible durability against most forms of injury (falls, gunshots, stabbing, energy bolts). He can still be harmed, per his flaws.
• Energy Conversion: Shaw naturally converts stored energy to amplifying his physical abilities to superhuman levels in proportion to his available energy. Effectively, this has a number of benefits.
• ** - Physical Attributes: He can normally lift 10 tons, double that at full charge. He can direct energy to move at superhuman speeds, preventing anyone but a speedster from reacting to his attacks. As long as he has enough energy, he can maintain activity and stay awake indefinitely. His energy replenishes injuries at a dramatic rate, as long as he is able to absorb a charge.
• - Longevity: Shaw no longer ages, thanks to his highly advanced healing factor.
• - Durability: His power to absorb almost all kinetic energy makes him seem practically invulnerable to attacks. A swung knife loses its energy and does a scratch, a bullet bounces off him.
• - Explosive Charge**: Shaw discharging a portion of his energy into an object or being produces a destructive explosion. A quarter of his full charge reduces a normal person to a smouldering corpse. He cannot hide the discharge.

• Business Acumen: Shaw is a skillful operator in the cutthroat world of international business. He manages his passel of companies very well as a CEO, and he knows how to play the game with contacts and running risk against reward.
• Finance: Money talks. Money is power. Shaw speaks the language like a native and he knows how high finance works in every sense. His expertise in manipulating leverage and debts can shake regional economies, applying pressure to get what he wants. With his capital, he's far more effective than a gun to the head.
• Charm: Shaw represents the entitled, respectable class of powerful man that others follow and trust instinctively. He wields his power judiciously.

• Shaw Industries: He is one of the few true billionaires thanks to ownership of several companies under the Shaw Industries name. His businesses are diversified through the military-industrial complex, focused on transportation and heavy machinery. With money comes powerful contacts in military and government. His assets are protected by countless shells and Swiss accounts to prevent easy tracking of his money or unsavory deals.
• Recordless: Shaw lacks any criminal records or dirty laundry to find. He is as squeaky clean as a businessman can be.
• Hellfire Club: Shaw is the Hellfire Club's Black King. He commands the prestige among his peers, and knows their dirty secrets to blackmail them with at any given time. He influences the exclusive membership and enjoys the deep resources available, including guards, goons, entertainment, and contraband weapons and substances.
• The Goods: Shaw has access to all but the most exotic drugs, alcohol, and weapons to satisfy his louche lifestyle. He deals with drugs and arms dealers on the black market regularly.
• The Sub: He owns a highly illegal nuclear submarine for his own personal uses, one flagged in Liberia under a shell company. The submarine does not come armed with nuclear warheads, but has conventional missiles. Money buys everything.
• Charged: Shaw fights every morning, first thing, taking blows from Hellfire goons to charge himself up for the day.

Flaws

• Arrogant: With power and an innate sense of superiority come overwhelming arrogance. Sebastian is better than other mutants and aliens. He excels beyond all humans. Regardless of his charm, his sheer disdain for the lower orders oozes out. One of these days he's going to piss the wrong person off.
• Enemies: The Black King inherits many enemies of the Hellfire Club as his personal foes. He carries vendettas for decades, and those enemies would love nothing more than to usurp him or pick him off. They'll aid one another to stick one to him.
• Obsessive: Shaw is obsessive about his personal superiority over everyone else. He ignores matters to pursue slights to his honour or show up someone who revealed a weakness.
• Power Limitations: Shaw's power is not without restrictions. Once a limit is reached, he is vulnerable to damage like anyone else.
• ** - Overcapacity: A series of exceptional superhuman kinetic attacks, on par with Hulk or Thor, in very short order can exceed his absorption capacity.
• - Overclocked: Shaw has a finite limit of energy absorption, very high though that is. For example, he can absorb several lightning bolts but not a full summer thunderstorm concentrated on him. Whatever he cannot convert affects him and knocks him out or worse. How long he stays out is highly variable.
• Vulnerabilities: He has no particular immunity to gravity. A heavy weight pressing down on him crushes him just like anyone else. Shaw's power relies on energy absorption and conversion. When he is completely immobilized and deprived of an energy source, he has nothing to absorb as kinetic energy.
• Connections**: Shaw has worked with nefarious organizations directly in the past - the Nazis, HYDRA, and Department X to name a few. His loyalty isn't to country or person. Those connections could deeply impact his business ties if discovered. He has plenty of dirt on his erstwhile colleagues just in case. But it won't endear him to anyone.
