New York really is a pretty place, especially when you look at it from above. The bright lights of the big city are especially noticeable when the sun starts to go down, and that just might be why Akihiro is seated atop an office building, legs dangling over the side of the nauseatingly tall brick building. A cigar hangs out the corner of his mouth but he hasn't lit it just yet, seemingly more occupied by watching the sunset.

*

Akihiro isn't the only who likes to view the sunset over the city from above. The Winsome Wasp is out and about for a flight of fancy, keeping an eye in case anyone might need her help, but for the most part, she's having a bit of fun flying over the city.

Upon spotting Akihiro sitting on the roof of a building looking at the view, she flies over towards him, curious both by the prospect of sitting so high for a good view and the fact he's a rough looking Japanese guy. When she comes nearer he can hear the buzzing of her translucent wings cutting throught he air, "hello! Are you a tourist? It's a beautiful sight, isn't it?" She calls out at him, and at about 4" tall, she looks like a tiny fairy, so she comes quite close so he'll be able to see her.
"

*

Akihiro looks to not have any problem spotting the Wasp, ears picking up on the buzzing long before he should have. He lifts a hand to wave, "Hey." he calls over, "I'm new to the city, but I'm gonna be staying here for the foreseeable future." An almost teasing grin is flashed, mischief alight in his eyes, "It sure is, I don't think I've seen anything lovelier. How about you join me?"

*

The Wasp is rather impressed by Akihiro's ability to spot her without help on her side, and as she buzzes closer to him at his invitation, she comes to land on his shoulder, "if you don't mind, I'd love to…so, sorry for making assumptions, but are you from Japan? I've never been to Japan, do you think they'll let me visit?" She doesn't need to point out why it's awkward, those things are better left unspoken. Everybody who is alive knows all the reason in the world for tensions between Americans and Japanese.

*

"They don't really like outsiders, unfortunately." Akihiro says with an apologetic smile. "I had a hard enough time of it because I'm only half Japanese." He doesn't seem bothered by the questions though. "So you get any taller, or you stuck like that?" The cigar he was thinking about lighting is removed from his mouth, and it's clear from this close that it doesn't have tobacco in it at all, rather it's full of marijuana.

*

"I guess so…" Wasp says with a bit of a sigh, figuring it might not be the best idea to even try at this point in time. Though the follow up question has her laughing as she pokes a finger against Akihiro's cheek, "that would be telling! A lady must have her secrets!" The wasp usually sees objects much larger than anyone else does, for her it's quite evident with ease, as she asks Akihiro, "so you're the sort that likes to party?"

*

"Yeah, sometimes. But it takes more than I'd like to do anything, and even that doesn't last long." Akihiro turns his gaze down to the woman on his shoulder. "But that's just because I heal /really/ quick." he explains. "What about you?" Another grin creeps across his features, "You like to party? Because I like to share."

*

"Really? That sounds fascinating…and frustrating, I gotta say, though super fast healing can be really useful," Wasp muses, idlly wondering if the guy might be a hero of some sort, even though he looks rather rough. She doesn't ask outright if he's a mutant, because that would be rude, and she's not a racist or mutant hater. "Sure I do," Wasp grins at the question, before gesturing at herself with a flourish, "I can get real small, for one thing," she offers, "it really is quite convenient. A barbie's dream house is much cheaper than an actual mansion," she giggles, not caring to share that she actually doesn't have a problem with housing, seeing she is the Van Dyne heiress, but she doesn't go out of her way to share her secret identity. She just doesn't really protect it either.

*

"Even more useful when you have claws." Akihiro says, lifting his hand to show off the two and a half feet long claws he's been hiding inside his arm. He just may be a mutant. "Wouldn't be practical to have these if every time I went to use them I bled everywhere." They retract just as quickly as he revealed them, split skin closing up after them. The cigar comes back up to his mouth and he lights it. "You wanna get tall again and hit this?" he asks, blowing the smoke away from Wasp.

*

"Claws…? Like a cat?" Wasp asks Akihiro curiously, but when he actually shows them to her, it explains everything, he has to be a mutant. At least that's what the Wasp thinks. "Wow! So what do you do with those?" She asks, hoping it's something heroic. "I'll have a go," Wasp says, smiling in appreciation as Akihiro lets the smoke out away from her, as it would really cover her entirely at the moment. She then jumps off his shoulder, buzzing a bit away before growing into 4' tall, her translucent wings folding over her back, as she reaches for the cigar.

*

Akihiro passes the cigar over, "You know, the usual. Stop muggers, thwart robbery attempts, and defeat world eating terrors." His tone is light, so he may be joking about that last bit. "But I try to not use the claws unless I have to, they may be in the wrong but I don't get to decide if they die for it." With Wasp off his shoulder he undoes his stripped coat, setting it beside himself and revealing his hidden muscles. "Not to come across as forward, but you're quite pretty. Wouldn't be opposed to having you swoop in and save my life."

*

"Hey, that makes us on the same team!" Wasp announces with a big smile on her lips, "fab!" Wasp does get a bit distracted by Akihiro's muscles when he takes off his coat, looking over in a sorta-kinda not staring but totally staring way. "You work out a lot, don't you?" Her attention snaps back when he gives her a compliment and she poses heroically, "that's why they call me, the Winsome Wasp!" She seems mighty proud of herself, "and if you're ever in trouble, I'll definitely come to help! It's what I do." She then takes the cigar and inhales deeply, before handing it back to Akihiro, "wow…" she exclaims with a bit of cough, "that one's really packed."

*

Akihiro tries to hold it back but a laugh breaks it's way out as Wasp chokes on the smoke some. "You get over that after a little bit." he assures her, taking the smoke into his lungs now. "Yeah, it helps me keep my head clear. Might be breaking some secret identity rule, but you should come work out with me." he offers the cigar back over, taking a moment to check her out a little less subtly.

*

"I don't think I'll mind joining you for a workout, healthy life style is all good," Wasp says with an impish grin on her lips, "I'm pretty sure it'll help me keep my head pretty clear too." Taking the cigar, she takes another puff, this time more carefully so she doesn't cough, as she hands it back, "ahhh…sure has a nice calming effect, doesn't it? So, how do you like New York? I bet it's different from Japan, do you have any family here? Or are you on your own?" The Winsome Wasp doesn't seem to mind Akihiro checking her out, that, or she doesn't notice, either way she plays it cool as she keeps the flow of conversation as if nothing happened.

*

"My father." Akihiro takes the cigar and takes a long drag, inhaling a majority of the smoke through his nose. "He's not Japanese though." He answers that question before it's asked, offering the cigar out once more. "And the city is alright. Not too fond of me though, pretty sure it'd be doubly so if they knew I was a mutant. But their words aren't the most painful thing I've been through, so I couldn't care less about what they have to say."

*

"Oh…so you're here visiting your father? That's wonderful," Wasp does think being with one's family is important, and of course, she dearly misses her own father but leaves her own private life off topic for now. "So your father is American? Must have been hard for you back home, huh?" She knows the levels of racism and prejudice here, she can only imagine how bad it must be in Japan if anything American is involved. Taking the cigar in turn and taking a puff, she nods, "that's right! Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me! Though, I guess sticks and stones won't do too well against your healing, huh?"

*

"Well.. He didn't know he was my father." Akihiro admits, "I told him last night. And I'm not sure where he's from, I didn't think to ask him." His gaze turns out over the city. "You know," he changes the subject, "I think this view might be the second prettiest thing I've seen tonight."

*

"So…he met your mother and didn't know he got her pregnant?" Wasp tries to guess, after all, it's not all that rare a thing in war time, and she assumes this might have happened in the war. "So what was his reaction!?" Wasp gets all too invested in this very personal story, before Akihiro's comments catches her off guard for a moment. She blinks at first, before her mind reels back to the present and she grins coyly, "are you flirting with me?"

*

"No, he did. She was murdered before I was born." Akihiro explains, reaching up to rub at the back of his neck. "He thought I died with her, neither of us know how I ended up on my adoptive parent's doorstep." His gaze shifts back over, "And I may be, but it wouldn't make of a difference. You're a hero!" Despite the seriousness of what he was just talking about he grins, "Hard to get a date when there are secret identities." He takes another drag from the cigar, passing it back once more.

*

"Ugh…" Wasp is silenced by shock as Akihiro reveals an even worse story, for a moment, she relives the moment she came home to her father's lab to find he's been murdered. Wasp is still a bit reeling from the harsh facts in Akihiro's history, that she's not quite back in flirtatious mode, a rarity for her, as she nods and mutters, "you know…heroes, gotta do the hero stuff, if you'll excuse me…I think I have to get back to that." She says, struggling to hold back the tears, "I'm called the Winsome Wasp by the way, if I didn't mention it before, I'll be seeing you again, enjoy the city!" In seconds she shrinks back down to mere inches, her wings buzzing rapidly as she flies away.

*

Akihiro sighs quietly, "Why do I always make women cry?"
