Jamie's life, of recent, has been consumed by a lot of things. The whole 'Friends of Humanity' issue that has reared its ugly head, for one, as well as missing mutants, and the general atmosphere of mutant hatred has been keeping him very busy, and away from all of the things he would rather be doing. Even for the man who claims he has the capacity to be everywhere, he couldn't be. Today he's in Hell's Kitchen, on his way from the safehouse to the Impala parked outside and down the street, dressed in a long overcoat and a very simple fedora (who doesn't love a fedora?). A man on a mission, it seems, as tends to be his usual pattern these days. Jamie reaches the car, and pulls his key out to unlock the door. Business as usual.

*

Thea has been busy as hell, as well. Between passing her boards, the holidays, and working at Roosevelt Hospital and the clinic in Harlem, she's not had a ton of time to socialize (Well, some). If he's looked at the social pages, Jamie would have seen her with her father, attending some fundraiser that Thea couldn't have said what it was for. But right now, the Blonde is headed back to her apartment, a shopping bag dangling from her hand. Black wool peacoat is open a bit over that rose hued sweater paired with tan slacks. There's a tilt of her head, a smile.. "Jamie?" She'll call out.. sure because of the car, but one is never sure which Jamie one will get .

*

Jamie lifts his head to see Thea, and gives the woman a surprised smile in return, "Hey there, darlin'," he offers, stepping away from the car to move toward her. "Been a while since I ran into you," he says, opening his arms a little bit as a signal that if she'd allow it, he'd give her a quick hug. He did indeed see the paper, and her picture there, but given what she's said about making her own way in the world, it's not something he'd bring up for her to dwell on, but he was happy to know that she was alright, especially considering the circumstances of their last encounter. "Been doing okay? I've been meaning to try to check in, but.. you know." Let's not make excuses here. At the end of the day, he has no good ones.. just busy.

*

Thea makes a couple quick steps in heeled boots, and Jamie will get an enthusiastic hug, and a smacking kiss to his cheek. "You know you never have to worry about me. I've been great. Passed my boards, working at Roosevelt and the clinic, doing a little dating. It's been busy, but fun. Though from what I read in the paper, you've probably been a busy boy, and not in the fun way. "

*

"I know you're a big girl who can look after herself," Jamie says with a grin. "Glad to hear it, darlin'. You deserve some fun in your life, all the shit you go through." He doesn't elaborate on what he thinks that must be, but it's a nice sentiment, isn't it? "Not so much fun on my side of things these days, no. Plenty of sickos out there, making our lives a misery.. world's a bit of a mess, which I'm sure you've noticed. I'm on my way to Mutant Town now, actually. Can I drop you somewhere? Give you a lift back home?" Not that she lives /too/ far, but hey, driving's better than walking, right?

*

Thea looks up at him, a faint glow to her face. "What are you up to in Mutant Town? Anything you could use a hand with?" Her hands will brush down his coat, a finger up to adjust that fedora to just the right rakish angle. "Well, if you dropped me home, you'd have to come up for a drink." There's a grin there.

*

"Just trying to lend a hand with the rebuilding and cleanup after the attack a few nights ago," Jamie says. Hands are things he has a lot of, after all. And he's pretty handy to boot, if you'll pardon the pun. "Would be happy to have you tag along, if you'd like. Still a lot of pretty beat-up mutants that could use your, uh, special touch," he suggests as casually as he can. He's not out to recruit her to the cause, necessarily, but it's hard not make use of a person with an ability that could help a lot of people who need it, when the opportunity presents itself. "On the other hand.. fuck, I could use a drink."

*

Thea laughs, leaning into him a little bit. "Well, how about we go help, then I'll bring you home for a drink. If you promise to relax." There's a turn of her head, a look up from under lashes as she teases him.

*

"That sounds like a great plan, darlin'," Jamie says to Thea, moving to escort her, after a fashion, to the passenger side door, which he opens for her. Always the gentleman. "I'll try not too keep you out too late," he comments with a sly grin. "Altruism and drinks, sounds like a better way to spend the evenin' than I had planned, that's for sure."

*

Those eyes are almost amber as she grins up at him as she slides into the passenger seat. "Sounds better than the salad and book I was planning, too. Always allieviating my boredom, aren't you Jamie."

*

Jamie circles around and slides into the driver's side, key in the ignition and shifts the car into gear. One hand on the steering wheel, one around the back of seat just behind Thea's head as he turns to watch behind as he backs out and into the street. "Hey, feel free to use me to alleviate any boredom you might have. I've got plenty of excitement to go around," he says, looking over at Thea briefly with a wide grin. "In fact, feel free to use me for anything." Off to Mutant Town!

*

Thea laughs, shaking her head. "You shouldn't offer yourself up so easily to me, Jamie. I might be a predatory woman!" There's a chuckle then, a flush in her cheeks. There's a new… ease to how she relaxes in that seat, teases him.
