Thea had been on her way home from her shift, which would explain the scrubs and the flat bottomed shoes. It would also explain for her blonde hair being pulled back in a braid that has some straggling strands around her face. But she's almost home, and her step is light, thinking of a hot bath, a cold drink, and maybe ordering something in. Maybe invite over Warren, or something.

But all that fun daydreaming comes to a halt with the sound of screeching brakes, a couple of shouts, a scream.. She'll blink, before she's rushing down the block to see if anyone's hurt..well, she knows someone is, but not who or how bad..yet.

*

If Thea's leaving, that means Claire is just coming *on* shift, she on graveyard these days. She should be well slept, this being her morning, but should is a very strange term and considering the amount of people who come knocking, bleeding at her door? Well, she managed about three hours tonight. She's getting used to it. Still, the moment that crash can be heard, the latina woman does a double take down the street and curses. So much for getting into work on time. Claire begins a double time jog in the direction of the car and, probably, pedestrian that's been hit. Generally that's what screeching tires and a scream means, when she hasn't heard metal against metal. Her dark eyes flicker across the scene, looking for the worst injuries. "DId you see what happened?" She calls to the other woman in scrubs. It's just like asking for triage at the ER. She doesn't know Thea, but it was time for them to work.

*

Thea shakes her head, unslinging the bag from over her head. She has a nominal first aid kit. "No, I was coming down the street." Thankfully, the pedestrian that was struck is not a kid.. Thea sometimes has a problem with kids. There's a glance at the other woman in scrubs, a hint of a smile. Then her eyes are going unfocused. "Multiple lacerations, impact points. The ankle is likely broken, though not badly." She's moving to lay the young man carefully with his head in her lap, trying to cease his struggling to get up. He's local, Thea's seen him before at the little bodega down the street. "Hit his head, possible concussion."

*

Whether Thea is a doctor or not, she's taken charge of the scene, so Claire falls into the secondary nurse/assistant role. SHe also isn't carrying a first aid kit on her, her bag mysteriously empty. It always goes home full, but she goes to the hosptial with plenty of room to smuggle things out when she can. Illegal, yes, but also necessary. She looks up to the young man, speaking quickly in Spanish. She apparently recognizes him as well, "<Relax, Carlos. This woman is going to help you. I'm right here. Let me check the driver. You're going to be alright.>" Hopefully her reassurances will help him not fight back as much as Claire looks up and into the vehicle, tryign to see if the driver is alright and why the accident happened in the first place.

*

Oh, if only they knew the truth about each other! Thea glances up at the Spanish, a hint of a smile. It is not one of her best languages, but she can follow enough with a little mental effort. Eyes watch the other nurse as she takes off to look at the driver. Who is a poor, frazzled woman with loud kids in the back seat, who probably got distracted. <Carlos, is it? I'm Thea. I'm going to check you out, make sure you're okay, all right? It might hurt a little, or you might feel warmth, or a tingling.> She's looking down into his eyes, looking for fixed pupils.

*

Leaning slightly in the window of the car, Claire explains gently, "The young man is hurt, but not that bad. Just stay here until the police come, it'll be a lot better, okay? We all know it was an accident. You're going to be okay…" Claire reassures the woman, really hoping that this doesn't end up being a hit and run. But she's more worried about Carlos. So, she quickly moves back to Thea and brings herself down to her knees near by. "How can I help?" She asks the blonde, completely professional.

*

By the time Claire has reassured the poor mother, that troublesome would have been concussion is dealt with. Carlos has more color in his cheeks, and Thea less in hers. "I might have a splint in the bag for the ankle? If you'd check on that…" She thinks it's safe now, a hand on Carlos' arm as those lacerations there.. just dwindle to non-existant.

*

It's the lacertations which Claire KNEW were there and now… seemingly, are not? That's what gets her attention. She's a nurse and sharp of mind, even as tired as she is. She looks from Carlos' arm, up towards Thea, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully for a heartbeat or two, and then she looks towards the bag of Thea's. "Let me see…" And starts hunting for a split. There. Well, a basic one and some wrapping, but it will do to get him loaded up before a bus comes. "It'll have to do." She, ever so gently, begins to unlace and guide the boot off of the young man's foot.

*

Most of the minor stuff has.. gone as if it never were. Thea's a bit paler for it, but that could just be this happening after a long shift, right? "It's not fancy, but it'll do for now." She glances up at Claire, and decides that no, she can't just heal the ankle. Be too hard to explain. "He's not as bad off as I first thought. Roughed up, is all." In this, Thea is not always the best liar.

*

"Yeah… Of course. Lucky, I guess." Claire isn't a good enough liar to hide the doubt in her tone. She, after she finishes wrapping the man's ankle careful, but tightly, levels a hard look at Thea. It's not accusatory, not exactly, nor angry, but it's intelligent and it's says she saw things. She's not turning away or going to pretend like those scratches simply weren't there. "He seemed more scratched up when he went down. Got lucky." Claire's slightly accented voice deadpans doubtfully.

*

Brown eyes will meet Claire's hard look. "Very lucky. Got two of the prettiest nurses in town cleaning him up." The words are playful, the expression in her eyes is not. There's just a tiny lift of her left eyebrow. "And probably two of the most …talented." It's a hint, but she doesn't spell it out.

*

Tired or not, Claire really is that sharp and she hasn't even started her shift now. The hint that Thea drops about being 'talented' gets a slight breath of thought for her and a small nod, "Indeed, Carlos, you are very lucky. The ambulance is going to be here any minute, but mainly it's a precaution. You'll be fine." Claire gives him a reassuring smile, remaining down on the ground near him, but now mainly focused on Thea. "If…if you want to take the hand off, I'm supposed to be at work five minutes ago."

*

"I have no problem with that. I'm on my way home, not in. Have a good shift. Extra coffee. " Yes, Thea can see that the other woman is tired. And while tempted, she does not tinker to help with that. "We should have coffee, sometime." There's a nod and a point. "Apartment 2a. Stop by sometime."

*

"Uh…I'm…down the road, but yeah. I suspect we're at the same hospital. I've seen you a few times. I… I'm Claire. Claire Temple." The brunette offers quietly, before reaching down to squeeze Carlos' arm for one more reassuring moment before she unfolds from the street and shrugs back into her mostly empty back pack. Thea is given a thankful, respectful smile. Even if the talents were weird, the help was appreciated.

*

"I suspect we are are the same one." It would make sense, after all. "Thea Harman. Nice to meet you." There's a quick smile again. < We'll be fine waiting here together, right, Carlos? > The words aren't as easy for her as English, but she manages without sounding like a kid studying the language. "I'll take care of him."

*

"Thanks, Thea. I…uh, owe you a coffee. Thanks." Claire gives her one more, respectful sort of salute, and then she begins her jog back down the road towards the hospital. She'll keep eyes out for when Carlos comes in, and probably ask around a bit about this Thea Harman, but otherwise isn't going to make a deal for the woman. The less said the safer, probably.
