The apartment door is closed but that doesn't mean what is happening inside isn't somewhat obvious. It smells faintly of marijuana from outside. She could be smoking more intensely but she might turn into a chimney. Josie is actually seated on the couch right now in her underwear, blue eyes on the wall as she reclines next to a stack of snacks. The house is silent, the news turned all the way down. There's not a lot to say. She gets all three networks, of course. This is NBC.
*
Delphyne knocks lightly on the door, then lets herself in, poking her head around as her nose wrinkles just a touch, "Josie?" The Gorgon slips in, closing the door behind her as she walks in, then sees Josie on the couch, eyes narrowing as she definitely looks concerned, "Ah… what's wrong?" Because, well, it seems like a safe assumption.
*
"Nothing's wrong," Josie responds in a quiet voice. Hern ormal smile is gone and she's staring broodingly like doing so might cause her vision to bore through the wall to the object of her concentration. If it isn't simply extant in her thoughts. "Just thinking." She raps the fingers of her right hand, free of her joint, against her bare thigh, rapping out some sequence that is hard t follow. 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8… The gestures quickly become frenetic. "How was your night, tough chick?" Blue eyes turn to Delphyne then and the girl offers a quiet smile, softening considerably. It doesn't take long for the staring to resume, however.
*
Delphyne walks over and sits down, "Well, you don't look like nothing's wrong." She tilts her head, looking at Josie with no small amount of worry, "Just was visiting a friend." Which is true, if not exactly specific, though right now her eyes reflect a lot of worry for Josie, "Are you sure everything is okay?"
*
"Everything? Nah, baby. But we're copacetic." Josie takes a deep breath and then flashes Delphyne another of those grins before leaning over to rest her head on the Gorgon's shoulder. Silence follows for a second and then Josie adds, "I have a lot to think about is all. I'm sorry. Didn't mean to ruin your groove. Everything's fab." She gestures with the joint and takes another puff. "Want a drag?" She holds it for Delphyne to take.
*
Delphyne blinks, then shrugs and actually takes it, inhaling a bit… and then coughing softly, eyes crossing a bit as she hasn't really tried /this/ before, "Um… wow, okay…" She then nestles against Josie, relaxing a bit as she slides an arm around her, "The only thing that ruins my… um, groove, is when you're out of sorts." Her lips curl in a warm smile, as she looks at Josie.
*
Josie is pretty thin and easily disappears into the gorgon's arms. She lays against Delphyne comfortably. It took a little while for her to completely relax when they first started sharing a bed but now she does it easily. The smile is returned quietly and Josie nods. "Give it a moment," she suggests of the marijuana beforre taking another drag herself. "I'm fine. Really." There's a beat as Josie considers this a moment, her tone softening slowly. "What were you up to today? You're showing up a little later'n usual." THere's no complaint there. Josie isn't the sort to cling, really. Her maintenance requirements come in other forms.
*
Delphyne takes another experimental hit off the marijuana, then relaxes, looking up at the ceiling, then she looks at Josie, "I was seeing a friend of mine, actually." She pauses, looking a little distant as she tries to figure out how to say what she's feeling. "I'm… feeling very confused, honestly." Which is true. She never expected to be in /this/ position.
*
"Confused about what?" Josie asks indulgently. She's pretty attentive, really. Tends to care what Delphyne thinks and does, even if she has an odd way of showing it sometimes. It might help to make up for how erratic she tends to be. It's hard to tell when Josie is taking anything seriously most of the time… But Delphyne? It's obvious. Delphyne matters if nothing else does. A lazy finger trails down the Gorgon's side, idly exploring through clothing. The marijuana is easily shared between them. Josie doesn't mind at all. She takes a deep breath, adjusting herself so she can manage to curl even closer. "Take your time. Not going anywhere… Something wrong?"
*
Delphyne mmms, and looks at Josie, and smiles warmly, "I… realize there is something in my life that… well, it isn't complicated where I come from, but it is complicated here, and I'm not sure how to explain it." She gently snuggles Josie close to her, and tilts her head, "To be honest, with my amazing good looks, I didn't think it would be…" Sure, a little sarcasm there, but there's a bit of honesty in that, and she kisses Josie's cheek, giving Josie an earnest look, "But I want you to know the last thing I'd do in the world would be intentionally hurting you. Okay?"
*
"Okay, so. I'm going to start jumping to conclusions in a sec and that's going to make me look like an asshole so you'd better tell me now." Josie's oice carries a teasing tone but there's a quiet honesty to the words as well. Delphyne's nerves are making Josie nervous in turn. She nods her head s slowly, turning her hed to meet her lover's gae for a moment. "Right. I believe you. Everything's copacetic. Lay it on me, babe." Josie nods a couple times then, but otherwise doesn't seem inclined to move.
*
Delphyne sighs, "Well, I was visiting one of my other friends in this place. I don't have many, and we hadn't spoken in a while. So… we spoke, and then she kissed me, rather out of the blue. And, well, I kissed her back, and…" She trails off, then looks at Josie, "I care so much about you, but I also care about her, and this world seems to insist that I have to choose, and I care about both of you." Her eyes are wide as it comes out in a rush, probably no thanks to the joint that she toked on, and she looks at Josie with surprising intensity, "By Aphrodite, I never thought I would be in this position." She then laughs softly, a bit cynically, at herself. Irony is so ironic.
*
"Okay… So. From what you've told me Amazons do the whole polygamy thing and all of that," Josie responds quietly, her tone rather matter-of-fact as she does. Josie shifts her weight back enough to properly meet Delphyne's gaze, nodding slowly. "And so you liked this girl and you went back to her place and did a bunch of shit and you're worried I'll be upset," the girl continues quietly. "I hate to break it to you, Del. This is completely unacceptable. I don't know if I can stand it." A beat follows.
"When am I going to meet this chick? If she's going to be hanging around. I'm guessing she's cool, right? No sweat." Josie tilts her head and then shrugs a little bit, shifting her weight against Delphyne as she does. Now the brunette is biting her bottom lip and taking a deep breath. "If she wants my snuggle time I'm gonna step up though." She half mumbles that last bit, perhaps the only hint that anything might be bothering her.
*
Del actually looks nervous as Josie talks, then she asks to meet her and stuff, and Delphyne laughs. A long, relieved, happy laugh as she reaches up and tussles Josie's hair, "You imp! You had me worried!" She then leans in and kisses Josie warmly, then pulls back a bit, "I'm not sure, honestly. She is very uncertain about some things, but I would love for the two of you to meet." And then Delphyne snuggles up against Josie, her cool skin a good balm for a warm summer.
*
Josie nods slowly, sighing as she does, head against Del's chest. "I'll probably be more nervous after the plants've worn off." She shakes her head a little bit then buries it against Delphyne's chest. "But it'll be okay." Then Josie breathes a quiet, more or less satisfied sigh. "This is you. And if you can put up with me I can sure as hell put up with you. Anyway. Geting hungry yet? Plenty of snacks. Then we should talk or something. We still don't even know what kind of thing we are and apparently it, like, matters or something."
*
Delphyne mmms and kisses the top of Josie's head, stroking her hair with her fingers as she smiles, "Not just yet… and I'd love to talk. Because I don't know what thing we are, but I do know I care about you, Josie. A lot. You see me as more than just some sort of monster… even if you thought I ate a schoolgirl the first time we met." A light tease, then a laugh as she holds Josie close.
*
"I was just being a shithead," Josie responds to that, shrugging. "I mean. I do that. If I really thought you ate someone I probably wouldn't've just walked up to you like that." Josie squirms a little bit. Not enough to break Delphyne's grasp on her, just show she's a little discomfited still. "Okay, let's talk. I care about you, Delphi. A lot." There's a pause as Josie considers this for a moment. "Even if you do eat schoolgirls. And lately you basically live here and… Well, you know. I've been sleeping better and all of that. I don't know what to say. I don't know if want that to change. What do you want?"
*
Delphyne loosens her grip as she feels the squirming, letting Josie go as she smiles, "I… I know. I love sleeping here, and I love being with you, and you have taught me a lot of this world." Perhaps too much, sometimes! But she continues, "I want to keep going, with you. I don't want this to stop, Josie." She hmmms, then asks, "Though, I wouldn't mind having a permanent place to stay, Josie…" Her head tilts a bit, as she leaves that idea hanging out there, since Josie kinda hinted at it.
*
"Alright, You can sleep… On bottom," Josie decides, shrugging slowly. "Just- come home most nights, right? Door's open, come and go whenever, jus- tell me." There's that insecurity poking its head through. Other than that Josie just runs her fingers lightly along Delphyne's sides and abdomen, more exploratory than lascivious. "I already made you a key," the brunette continues helpfully. She takes a deep breath and then has to stifle a yawn. "Oh, right. This stuff makes you tired too. You're back in time to watch me sleep."
*
Delphyne grins softly, "I'll be here for you, whenever you need me Josie." And Babs might just have to accept that, as she yawns a little herself, giving Josie a lazy kiss on the cheek, "I might just sleep with you, if you don't mind." She lightly runs a hand up and down Josie's back, comforting her as she's right here, and not going anywhere.
*
"Nope. You're always welcome," Josie responds, allowing herself to yawn this time. "Mmph. Probably for the best. I'm not moving and you'll get really bored after an hour like this. Make you regret moving in with me." Josie's tone is pretty matter-of-fact, though she's fading quickly toward sleep. "I'm holding you to that by the way," she adds in a whisper. "You better not go anywhere, snake girl."
*
Del smiles, "I'm not going anywhere. Promise." And then she kisses Josie, a gentle and cool kiss on the lips, then she cradles Josie close, letting her snuggle as Delphyne drifts a bit in and out as well, looking comforted with Josie right next to her.
