Another day out in New York, was it really that long before someone caused a little trouble? It had been rather simple, small-fry compared to the world-threat level things that had hit the city before. A jewelry store robbery, four armed suspects and now some injured victims left in their wake as they sped through the streets, one man firing out the window with clumsy shots of his revolver towards their pursuit. But it wasn't cops he was aiming for…

High above a caped figure swings and flips gracefully through the air, dark colors interupted only by the flash of red hair, Barbara Gordon, the 'Batgirl' is giving chase. Death defying swings and sweeps are made to look easy from such a distance.

Inevitably, the thugs overcorrect in a turn and their car slams into a corner, leaving the dazed robbers to crawl out of the totalled vehicle and make their flight down a nearby alleyway.

*

As the figures run down the alley, they see a slender female figure in a black jumpsuit, holding a baton in each hand. The woman looks pretty normal, until the light shows that her skin is green, and she has yellow eyes. Twirling the batons, she laughs a bit, "Hello boys, care to dance?"

The crook in the front tries to raise his gun, but Delphyne is too quick, lunging forward and cracking him in the wrist with a baton. He yelps and drops to the ground, as Delphyne suddenly starts weaving into the fray, attacking the other one in front while the two in back start running back the other way.

*

That was unexpected for more than just the thugs, from above and behind her mask Batgirl's eyes widen at the sight, both the familier face and the not-so-familier attire. Still, there was work to be done. Dropping like some inhuman black shadow in front of the thugs who would run, Barbara's cape pools around her for a moment from her kneeling position before she sweeps an arm out, both men shrieking in pain as the batarangs thrown by the motion pierce into their hands, dropping their weapons from their grip.

"Surrender," she speaks, moving forwards as menacingly as her costume and the 'Bat's dread can conjure. "Or that will feel like a papercut compared to what comes next."

*

Delphyne smiles wickedly, as she drops the other thug, reaching back behind her and pulling off the scrunchie. Which causes the snakes that constitute her hair to come to life, hissing and writhing and upping her scary factor by about seventy. "Better listen to her boys… otherwise I might have a few new lawn ornaments."

Sure, she /can't/ do that without her artifact, but they don't know that. Though she does toss a sly wink at Batgirl as she does so, lips quirking into a grin as the costumed avenger shows up.

*

Always one, isn't there? One who decides the feminine voice isn't scary enough he wasn't going to chance it, or perhaps he was a history buff at heart who thought he could escape if he didn't meet the Gorgon's gaze. Whatever the reasoning? It was enough for one of the Robbers to charge forwards, trying to simply rush-tackle Batgirl with his larger weight. Unfortunately for him? Babs had spent pretty much every day of her training and patrol fighting people bigger than her. At the last moment a seizing of his arm and a twist of her body sends the man sailing over her shoulder with his own momentum, slamming into the dirty floor of the alleyway and laying still.

The remaining man? He seems to be more open to learning as he drops his gun and his loot, letting both fall to the ground. No gems and baubles were worth this.

*

Delphyne whistles at Batgirl, "/Nice/ move." She grins, and puts her scrunchie back, binding her snakes behind her head once more as she slides her batons away, "Police scanner reported the chase, and I figured I'd see if I can intercept them. Plus, I wanted to try the batons."

Del then hrms, "But, I seem to have misplaced my snake-grapple gun, mind giving me a lift stranger?" She winks once at Batgirl, then eyes the other men to make sure they aren't being stupid enough to try anything.

*

"Smart boy," Batgirl says lightly before she digs into her belt, withdrawing what appears to be a thin metal tube with a rather odd magazine built into the side. Raising it to her lips she blows through one end and a dart leaps out, catching the surrendered man in the throat and rendering him unconcious in a matter of seconds. At least Batgirl is kind enough to move forward and guide him down…he -did- surrender after all. Finally left with unconcious mooks, the redhead gives a little laugh and beds to restrain the criminals while glancing up at Delphyne. "Nice outfit…I'm sure I could, since it wasn't out of my way."

*

Delphyne smiles, "Okay, you may have inspired me a little bit, and this is far less drafty than a skirt." She nods, helping Batgirl bind up the rest of the miscreants… though, when that's done, she slips an arm around Batgirl's shoulder, giving her a wry look, "You're not going to drop me, are you?" She winks, obviously trusting Babs.

*

"Skirt had charm of its own but…I like it," Batgirl speaks, gently letting her gloved hand brush over one of the 'windows' in the outfit lightly before gripping Delphyne tightly and raising her other hand with the grapnel. The police would find these men soon enough, best the pair of them be getting scarce while time was good. With the rope pulling them upwards towards the rooftop she chuckles, guiding their swing to a graceful landing. "Headed somewhere in particular?" she questions coyly.

*

Delphyne laughs softly, "Not really, no…" She clings to Batgirl, though once they land on the rooftop, she doesn't let go right away either. "What about you? At some point, I need to get a grappling hook like that. It would make things so much easier."

*

Babs doesn't really seem all that annoyied about not being released immediately either. Happy to return the squeeze before she steps back and chuckles. "Sometimes a simple rope works better, but they do have their perks. Still…without the cape I'd probably be a pavement splat by now. You have to be really careful about it and…" she pauses to reach out, grinning as she gently runs a hand over that catsuit down the middle. "I don't think you've got many places to put it."

*

Del smiles a bit, "Yeah, I don't have the full… what, utility belt, that you do?" She gives Batgirl a wry look, then gently places her hand over Batgirl's, "Got more patrolling to do tonight?"

*

Barbara nods lightly, giving a little grin. "It hadn't been as eventful as all that till a few minutes ago, but that's usually how it goes." A pause, the cowled woman tilts her head to one side and squeezes the hand on hers lightly. "But if you're offering company? I wouldn't refuse. We haven't really had any time since the uh…other night."

*

Delphyne grins, "That, we haven't. And I wouldn't mind some company again." She hmms, and gives Barbara a curious look, "We should talk about that too." She smiles and gives Batgirl a peck on the cheek, as she seems to think it won't be a bad conversation.

*

Barbara however, does seem a little suprised by the topic. Sure it had been weighing on her mind, but mostly for the fact of it all being rather 'new' experiences to her. "Talk about it?" she questions, tilting her head at the peck on the cheek. "Is this a uh…we should forget it thing?" she asks nervously, a state that looks much odder in costume rather than out. "I mean, I'd understand if you felt like I'd pressured you or something." Yep, Babs is babbling a little.

*

Delphyne shakes her head, "Quite the opposite, honestly. It's just… well, it's a little complicated. From your world's point of view, that is." She smiles and hmms, "But we should probably find a better place to talk than this, right?" She winks at Batgirl. giving the hand that she holds a firm squeeze.
