batman nightcrawler

One of Kurt's favorite activities is to watch the city at night from a nice, tall perch. Usually, after he's done 'breaking into' the gym and getting in a good stretch and practice on the gymnastic equipment there (and leaving a couple of bucks every now and then to cover his 'membership'), he showers, makes a nice, big cup of tea, and heads to one of the taller roofs in the area. It's usually the Church steeple where he joins the gargoyles there, keeping an eye over the twinkling lights of the city.

This evening seems to be no different as of yet. Freshly showered, he's seated on the ledge between a couple of stone gargoyles with his legs curled up under him in a sort of yoga position. The mug of English tea is held in both hands as yellow eyes just take in this bird's eye view of the city. While it's now very familiar, it never seems to get old.

*

Bruce Wayne had juuuuust finished his daily business as CEO of Wayne enterprise when his hour cane near. With the push of a button and a fingerprint scanner, a catsuit would emerge in a classic translucent pod. Thus did he suit up and jump off the Wayne tower balcony, lifting up his cape for it to harden like a glider as he flew through the night sky.

Eventually landing softer than a feather on a rooftop in Hell's Kitchen, Batman would be listening to the police radio feed to find crimes while also keeping a keen eye on the streets. He does spot nightcrawler, but the Caped Crusader decides to watch his actions for now instead of engaging immediately.

*

The flying figure would mostly likely catch Kurt's attention, but there's really only a tilt of his head as he considers the new figure. It didn't look to be Warren, but he's met many folks with different powers and abilities. This close to Mutant Town, it's not that strange of a sight. Golden eyes consider the newcomer for a moment before he, and his teacup disappear in a puff of dark smoke.

There's a *BAMF* sound and that dark smoke and smell of brimstone herald his arrival on the same rooftop as the newcomer. Only this time he has a mug of steaming tea in each hand and a small plate of cookies. "Tea?" is asked with a grin, one of the mugs held out to the Caped Crusader.

*

Batman would seemingly lock eyes with Nightcrawler, before the latter teleports and reappears next to the former. However, Batman doesn't appear fazed by the appearance (albeit plus sudden) of the young man before him, and at his invitation for tea, Batman doesn't even turn to him "I don't mind the offer, but no thanks." His eyes on the city streets "Enjoying the sights." He asks nightcrawler. After all, not often are you greeted by a mutant out of the blue.

*

Not all mutants are Nightcrawler either. Kurt looks at the two mugs in his hand and sets the second one down, keeping a hold of his as he looks from the costumed man to the streets and then back. "Thank you for not seeming to be frightened," is offered in his strong German accent, "Und I should tell you that if you mean harm, I will have to stop you. But if you do not mean harm…Wilkommen." Even if he didn't take the tea. "It is a better view of the city on the Empire State Building, but…the views here are more real, I believe."

*

Batman glances to nightcrawler "why should I be afraid?" A perhaps clear indication that he saw mutants as people rather than walking W.M.D's. Though at his words of stopping him if he means harm "My war is with crime, not the innocent." He states clearly with that deep voice of his. "This spot here is a good view of the city." He finally turns to look at him "who are you."

*

Nightcrawler starts to answer but just thinks a moment and blinks before the other gets a grin. "You should not be. But most people just see the outside…" and are fearful. The mug is lifted to his lips and he takes a drink as he listens to the other's explanation. "Ah. Good. Then I do not have to make you leave. That is good," because he's in a good mood and doesn't feel like kicking someone off of a rooftop. There's a gesture with his three-fingered hand towards the church steeple, "That is a better view, but maybe not as easy to stand on," for most. The hand then goes out as he answers, "I am Kurt. Und who are you?"

*

Keeping his eyes on Kurt, Batman nods faintly. "Understandable." He turns back to the city, then looks to where the church steeple was "Precisely." Is all he answers to that statement as Batman learns more about the mutant "I'm Batman." He states clearly and with a focus as he multitasks listening, watching, and hearing whilst still retaining everything.

*

"Bat?" Kurt tilts his head and then looks around the caped man as if searching for something. "Like Baseball? Or…" he notes the cape. "Ah! Eine Fledermaus?" Well, he's heard some folks use names when in masked disguises, so who is he to judge. "So…you are looking for crime to stop? Here?" It -is- Hell's Kitchen, after all. "There are a few who come here for that," He moves, still with his tea mug, to crouch easily on the ledge overlooking the city. "The little crimes are bad, ja. But there are bigger crimes I see."

*

Though Batman didn't respond to Nightcrawler's initial prodding about whether he meant baseball or the nocturnal creature. "Crime always thrives when left unchecked." He narrows his eyes when he sees two hooded men following a young woman at a distance, but doesn't act immediately, though he's ready to act at a moments notice.

*

"But it is not so…what you say, 'unchecked'. There are police here und others like you who dress in costumes to get the bad ones." Kurt continues to look between the cityscape before him and the Batman. He takes another long sip of the tea before asking, "Why? Why do you come here to fight the crime that you see?" It seems an innocent enough question.

*

Batman still speaks to Kurt without looking st him "While police at most times do good work, there still exists a corrupt element." He states clearly, especially in this time of repression to others. "..and are more often than not, with mutants and other powered individuals coming about who use their abilities to kill and harm others, to deal with the situation." And then those men he saw start to rush after the woman when she realizes she's being followed. A mugging.

and with that, batman finally looks to Nightcrawler when asked why he fights crime, he answers "Because I must." And he hops off the building, grappling hook being fired to a taller building to allow him to swing to his target! Tossing a batarang to nail one of the pursuers in the face with the dulled weapon, and as a result, the last pursuer starts to fumble and pause at his approach "HOLY SHIT! He's r-real?!" And he pulls a knife out, prepared to try to fight Batman…

*

"Not all mutants want to harm or kill," Kurt begins, frowning some at the generalization, but then Batman is off the building towards the two men attacking the woman. The mug is set down on the ledge before Nightcrawler also *bamfs* down, ending up not far from the woman. He gives her a little bow before offering, "Do you need help getting to your location, Fraulein? I think these men are busy for a little."

*

Batman would easily moving out of the way of a knife swing from the mugger, and instead catches his arm, twisting upward than slamming down with force. A loud 'crack' can be heard then as he breaks his arm, leaving him lying there and whimpering.

and with that, he dragged both men to a nearby brick wall..which coincidentally had a pointed out ledge above it. He tied both of their legs to each other with the string of his grappling hook, then fired said hook to the ledge, lifting the muggers in the air as panic seems to overtake the one with the broken arm. Batman then radios into an unknown person "Tell NYPD that two muggers have been contained at my location." He turns his head to the woman "With a witness."

*

Nightcrawler turns to catch Batman saying that there is a witness and he frowns. "You are going to make her stay here to wait for the police?" Granted, he wouldn't say anything if she decided to walk off. He's also not really up on law enforcement protocol. Golden eyes look to the muggers in the air, "Und is that necessary? Could you not tie them on the ground?"

*

Turning to walk towards Nightcrawler, Batman would shake his head "Her decisions are her own and no, I don't." He says flatly with a coldness in his voice "the police station is 5 minutes away. It won't be long." He answers Nightcrawlers next question with the same tone "It's effective. Less desire to attempt to get away while also simultaneously sending a message."

*

Nightcrawler glances to the woman as if curious as to what she is going to do. He then looks over to the Batman, his arms crossing at his chest, "What message is that?" He's obviously not entirely certain he agrees with the methods. "If the station is so close, why not bring them there? I can help you with that…"

*

The woman seems to be ready to walk home as the urban myth that was Batman that she used to scare her children to staying in bed and behaving with is standing before her, and so she starts heading home, which doesn't appear to bother Batman any. As to Nightcrawlers question, Batman answers "Don't screw with my city." He lifts an arm, "uncertainty of how far you could go. If you can, then do. Though don't be surprised if they're not keen on strangers teleporting with other strangers to them. and his grappling hook fires, pulling him up with speed to another rooftop.

*

Nightcrawler could chase after Batman…as long as he can see him, he could teleport after him, but it doesn't seem to be a fight he should pick. There's a frown as he looks between the hanging would-be muggers and the departing woman and he gives a heavy sigh. The muggers are chastized with, "Now, perhaps, you will think again before seeking to hurt someone…or take their money." He'll let the police find them there…this time. Maybe it's extra punishment that they have to deal with the brimstone-laced smoke that lingers as he teleports back to his cooling tea mugs.
