Its directly after the Troll-scursion when Loki comes home, looking for Kai in their fancy apartment. If he doesn't find him here, peering into all the places Kai likes to lounge, then he'll head straight for the home of Lambert to look for him there.

*

Kai is lounging on the couch, watching TV. Kevin's under his chair sound asleep. He's so sacked out he doesn't even wake up when Loki comes in. Kai sits up and calls out, "Loki?" There's warmth in his voice. There almost always is. "Do you want some dinner? It's in the oven."

*

"Well, I wouuuuld…but…" Loki pulls the jeweled necklace out of his pocket and washes it off in the sink, then pats it dry as he walks towards Kai on the couch, "I brought you a present. I know you do not normally wear ladies clothing, but, this sparkles so much I thought you might like it." He dangles it by one finger and stands in front of the TV to block it, staring at Kai with those bright green eyes.

*

Kai's eyes widen. "Oh, wow, that's gorgeous." And it sparkles! So sparkly. Kai stands up to approach Loki, coming to stand before him. "Here, put it on me." He turns around and holds up his hair to expose the nape of his neck. "I could make an exception for this."

*

Loki drapes the jewelry around Kai's neck and fastens it in the back without effort. THen he smoothes the chain with a flutter of fingers about the nape of his neck. "I found it in a troll trove…after I rid this world of their presence."

*

Kai's lashes flutter low, and he smiles, fingers trailing over the diamonds. "You'll saddle me with a new kink if you're not careful." he teases. Then he turns so he can slip his arms around Loki and look up at him, eyes shining. Then his brow furrows, and he says, "Did you kill them?" Maybe it's because of their troll blood, or the fact they tried to eat him, but he doesn't sound terribly traumatized by the prospect.

*

"I killed one of them…and sent the rest on a deadly errand, which…if they succeed they shall earn a respite, and if they fail, they will die." Loki wets his lips and kisses Kai's left shoulder. "I just wished you to know that you are safe."

*

Kai relaxes as tension he didn't even know he was carrying eases. "Thank you," he says. "I knew they would come back if they got the chance." He hugs Loki close. "I love you." Then he smiles up at him and adds, "You're my hero. It serves them right. They're human enough they could've survived on human food. This was a sick choice."

*

"I love you as well. Though…I may have started some trouble as well. I sent those trolls to murder Malekith's wife. He deserves it, of course. He murdered mine." Loki lifts his chin.

*

Kai groans. "But she doesn't deserve it," Kai says, "She's innocent in all this." He sighs, then hugs Loki anyway, because it doesn't matter, whatever the trickster does, Kai can't help the way he feels. "Maybe they'll get killed," he says. "What do they even know about Svartalfheim?"

*

"Not much…but it is a rowdy place. They'll figure it out. And she is /hardly/ innocent." Loki declares.

*

Kai tilts his head. "Oh? What has she done?" He toys with the diamonds at his throat. He may not usually be into drag, but sparklies are sparkly, and he's hardly immune to shiny things.

*

"Married Malekith. He's evil, you know. Innocent people don't marry evil people. Not by choice, anyway. She used magic on me too!" Loki gestures to himself. "She's after power."

*

Kai smiles crookedly, and he says nothing. Nothing! "You're both clever and canny," he says, "and far be it from me to question your perceptions. You know I've just got a soft spot for ljosalfar. It does seem awfully strange she'd marry him, though. He's a dark elf. He's horrible."

*

Loki closes his eyes for a moment. "You were innocent…and he killed you to harm me. Well, /somewhat/ innocent." He grins and kisses Kai's forehead. "Regardless, they will probably fail and die."

*

Kai leans into the kiss, and his smile broadens when Loki says he was 'somewhat' innocent. "You know that, whatever happens, you have my devotion," he says gently. "And I'm glad you sent them away. I hope they end up hunted like they hunted me."

*

The Asgardian wraps his arms around Kai, then lifts him effortlessly, for a moment. Once his feet touch the ground again, he parts back enough to look at him, to caress his cheeks with fingertips. "You truly are precious. I suspect we may, eventually, see some fall out from it, but…I tend not to think of such things until I am faced with them. I am certain that even he can understand that its simply what he's had coming. Now…I do believe that you are owed an adventure, my beautiful elf."

*

Kai muffles a squeak of delight as he's lifted, and he hugs Loki closely. "Whatever come of it, we'll face it," he says. Then he's promised an adventure, and he bounces on the balls of his feet. "Where are we going?" he asks. "Should I get my knives? Or the apple? Are we going to fight something terrible?" He sounds so happy at the prospect.

*

"I was actually thinking of dragging you through a visit to one of the undersea nations. You know…we just do not spend enough time with the Atlanteans. Not a lot of contact. Hard to get to. Very secretive. But, I can be very inventive." Loki suggests with a wily smile.

*

Kai stands up a little taller. "Why, my Prince," he says with affected grace, "shall I put on my finery? As Alfheim's representative on Midgard, I'd like to make an appropriate impression." Then he says, "Wait, are you going to cast a spell that lets us breathe underwater? This is going to be great."

*

"Of course…but there should also be some pockets of air there as well. Their King requires both." Loki smiles. "And I do agree, you should look your best, something that will look nice /wet/ though, so…nothing too…bulky." Not that Kai's going to have a problem with that! "Ohhhh…ah…you /might/ get cold. I will not but you are not so attuned to the chill as I am. Hmmm…"

*

Kai runs a hand over his skin-tight chinos and his t-shirt. "If I went informal I'll be set, but I think I can find a doublet that won't be too awful wet." His elvish clothes tend toward blues and silvers, unlike his new mod style, which is all fiery shades. He hrms at the news of the cold. "I'll have to rely on you to keep me warm," he says. "If they won't be too scandalized there."
